The most recent renovation project just finished its final look and design. Located in the outskirt of the city, Chamkardoung area, the existing house appearance blends in with rest of the neighbor residences with the generic flat house look. Traditional enclosure of these houses lack of natural light plus its not so practical layout and cluttered decoration. Thus, we approach the problems with minimalism and green design.

The primary ideas were to have greenery at the facade and apply sustainable design techniques so the interior would get enough natural light while still maintaining at a comfortable temperature. Folding shading devices, overhangs, and ventilation blocks help reduce direct sunlight as well as enable free flow wind circulations. Skylight window is now opened above the rooftop staircase, allowing soft illumination to get through every levels of the house. Some bedroom windows are enlarged and replaced with solar control glasses.

The new rooftop is designed with a concrete planter garden which also acts as a seating bench. A couple mid-size trees are planted to provide shade and cool down the heat.

Interior walls are mostly repainted in white, giving a wide look effect to the space. Bulky and old-fashioned furniture is replaced by low profile and modern ones. Furniture like daybed and shelving units are custom-made to fit the space with efficiency. Overall interior organizations center around clean/simple design with less unnecessary stuff and minimum object surfaces.
